Message from 2007-present GLC Odeza Agranum

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We are facing very trying times right now at Theta (UP Los Baños) and the efforts of sisters and brothers to help alleviate the situation are greatly appreciated. However, I am sure that we are all aware that there are still a lot of things to be done.

Because of the problem with official recognition, sorority and fraternity activities have been stymied and the issue of recognition remains unresolved. The longer this goes on, the closer Theta is to becoming a forgotten entity.

We should not let this happen. There are still things that we could do to make others aware that we still exist and that we have every intention of maintaining our profile in the university and the community.

Alumni and resident members of the organization are combining their efforts to raise the profile of the chapter. Programs such as the creation of a Web site and the establishment of various community projects are on the works to make people aware that we are still here. The issue of suspension and other unwelcome developments has made our immediate community focus on the negative instead of what APO and APOSS can do and we simply cannot let this happen.

We are asking our brothers and sisters to collaborate with us in our efforts to revive the name and profile of Theta by participating in these said projects. Any help that you can give will be greatly appreciated and will make a lot of difference in making these efforts a success.

We are encountering difficult times, but we should not forget that the image of the sorority and the fraternity still needs to be maintained. History has made Alpha Phi Omega a name worthy of notice and respect. Despite present circumstances, we should never abandon our efforts to serve the university, the community and the sorority and fraternity. Remaining active, involved and continuing our efforts to rebuild our name should be given utmost priority; lest those around us forget what we stand for.

Given the circumstances, it would be difficult to convince people that we are what we claim to be – an organization established in the name of leadership, friendship and service; but we should not shy away from the challenge. Instead, we should hold our heads high and work harder to regain the respect of the community and the university and its studentry. We can do this together. This is not the time for petty differences, but a time to stand as one and proclaim how proud we are of being APO Theta members.

Each one of us made a pledge of honoring our sorority and fraternity. We, the members of the Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity and Sorority Theta Chapter, are here to honor that pledge and we hope that our sisters and brothers will stand with us through this difficult times.
